Spammers Attack Ellen Tordesillas’s Blog

February 29, 2008

Spam attacks yesterday temporarily downed the blog of journalist Ellen Tordesillas.

“I got several texts saying this blog was down. My administrator said it experienced unusually heavy spam attacks,” Tordesillas wrote on her blog after it went online again Thursday afternoon.

TonyoCruz.com reported that Tordesillas’s webhost has noticed “‘unusual’ and ‘abnormal’ number of spam being sent to the comments section of her blog — which has eaten up most if not all of the bandwidth alloted to her.” Cruz is Tordesillas’s colleague in Malaya, a national daily.

Cruz pointed to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s followers as possible culprits in the attack.

“Of course, we are not that naive not to assume that President Arroyo’s henchmen may have had enough of the online ‘beating’ they normally receive from Ma’am Ellen. But they only have themselves to blame for it. They commit crimes, they pay for it,” Cruz added.

EllenTordesillas.com, reported Erwin Oliva of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, was cited at the ongoing Senate hearings on the NBN-ZTE deal for posting the supposed affidavit of witness Dante Madriaga, a former ZTE Corp. consultant who claimed that Arroyo and her husband of received bribes fro the Chinese company.
